Social Media Marketing Trends week of February 11th

When I named our company, and the 30 Days Authentic challenge - it came from a place of knowing it to be true, but not exactly book-smart expertise on the topic.

So I’m committing myself to become an expert.

I have started by reading this book, Authentic: How to Be Yourself and Why it Matters.

Gotta say, it has me really proud of the work we have been doing here each week!

The Author gives a “Formula for Authentic Living” and an “Authenticity Scale”

(My oh my, could you imagine if we put some of our favorite brands or influencers social media accounts up to an Authenticity Scale?!)

I’ll share the formula with you now:

Know Yourself + Own Yourself + Be Yourself = the Authentic Life

The formula simplifies an incredibly difficult concept to actually achieve, and many people live their entire Iives without fully actualizing these three principals.

I know I am still on the journey myself, and looking to deepen into it every day.

He says, “Living authentically can be terrifying at times, because its means taking responsibility for one’s decisions. But the authentic person is comfortable with their discomfort.”

He also talks about being able to trust in ones own convictions, judgement, and ideas - without being swayed by the crowd, when the crowd is not in alignment.

I love this for social media, because I think having an “Authentic” presence on social media, means that you choose the trends you lean into, the ones you don’t, and aren’t afraid to speak your truth even if it is different from others. And in fact, in doing so, you can stand out!

I think when we are using social media for business purposes, this notion of Authenticity comes back to really knowing the vision for your brand.

Keeping up with the conversation on social forces us to be in constant connection with our brand principals. Studying them, staying true to them, even shifting them without fear.

Authentic people, and Authentic brands, are not stubborn.

They are open to learning and own that journey if it’s what is true and best for them.

Hit REPLY and let me know your thoughts….

Are you finding Authentic content, or feeling like social is a sea of sameness?

How about on your own account, do you feel like your content is a reflection of the truest you?

Enough with the deep talk Linds, let’s get to this week’s prompts!

Super Bowl Sunday

Prompt: Even if you don’t like football, you need to know that 100 Million people tune in to the Super Bowl each year. So, it has an impact on the people in your audience. Even the National Park Service can relate. So, are you tuning in? Hosting a party? Watching for Usher? Hope to laugh at the year’s most expensive commercials?

Visual Ideas: Share your authentic opinion / experience leading up to Super Bowl. And if you are posting on Monday, be ready to hop on the memes or post your reaction video to the happenings.

Examples: Usher Throwback, Fantasy League Life, Traylor, Roger Goodell Says it Wasn’t Scripted
