Social Media Marketing Trends week of December 9th
I can’t believe it’s been almost a full year of Silly Little Social!
What started as a way to support creators with a 30-day-challenge has turned into a whole way of thinking for us at Authentic.
I remember thinking in 2023 that the agency needed to improve on our use of trends.
We needed to jump on things faster and be a leader in the social conversation of cultural moments.
Today, I can confidently say that helping our brands translate trends into their content is a strong suit.
In fact, in 2024 we have gone viral with our client’s content more than 16 times!
(Turns out being chronically online is an illness with benefits in our industry.)
So remember — we do it so you don’t have to!
As a Connecticut social media agency, we understand that staying ahead of trends isn’t always easy, especially during the holidays.
If you’re feeling at all burned out right now, wanting to slide into your cozy era for the holidays and let time slip by…
I get it.
Use these content prompts to make your content quickly and don’t stress about things being perfect!
Showing up imperfect, after all, is better than retreating.
And I feel that way about the SLS, too.
At Authentic, we pride ourselves on being more than just an agency — we’re also a growing content creator network, connecting brands with creators to deliver meaningful, trend-driven campaigns.
I’ve continued to show up and write it, despite some weeks it going out on a Monday instead of a Sunday.
Some weeks hitting send too fast and having broken links, or typos.
But I‘ve showed up.
And transformed in doing so.
I have some exciting things in the works to expand the SLS in 2025, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
XOX,
Lindsay
Can’t Pay Half the Mortgage
This trend is a revival of asking your partner something and filming their reaction. Similar to the ‘roman empire’ from 2023!
It’s a fun way to intrigue the audience and Moms across the country have filmed their responses showcasing the relatable ways couples deal with household finances.
I love it because it involves a few key themes that work well for viral content:
1) Men v. Women
2) Setting up a prank & filming the reaction
3) A taboo topic - household finances, paying the mortgage
So what’s YOUR response?
Would you have fun filming this with your partner?
Or does it make you cringe and want to share your opinion on the division of household finances?
Using trending long-tail keywords like: “can’t pay mortgage,” “mortgage prank,” or “telling my husband” on the screen and in your caption will help your content catch this trend’s tailwinds.
Examples: Reaction, Reaction 2, Big Laugh, Am I the only one?, Irritated
