Social Media Trends Week of February 3rd

Is there such a thing as “too authentic?”

My whole life I have been described as honest, genuine, and authentic.

and I wear that with pride.

However, at the same time, I have also been called blunt, emotional, and an over-sharer.

I know the negative side of sharing too much, personally and deeply.

When I started my company - Authentic meant a few specific things to the work we do:

1) Content made on a phone, for mobile consumption.

2) Made by a Mom, for a Mom. Our content should always feel and speak like a friend who gets it.

3) Done for you services, that no one could tell wasn’t you.

But lately I am going even further to deepen my own practice of authenticity.

I have been working with an expert in the field, Justin Schuman, as my personal coach over the last few weeks.

It has been eye-opening.

He describes communicating the authentic portrayal of yourself almost like a balance beam.

Sometimes, you’re going to fall off to one side.

Or to the opposite side.

But when you are centered, aligned and in focus - you can shine on that beam.

This work with Justin has been difficult.

And I have fallen off the beam a few times.

But I am really excited to sharpen my skills.

And there’s only one way you get really good at anything.

PRACTICE.

So, you’ll see me practicing on social, experimenting with different formats!

Let’s Show Up Authentic, together, friends. :)

XO,

Lindsay
