TikTok & Instagram Trends

I often think about how social media is to women… the way sports are to men.

It’s all the things we love: fashion, beauty, lifestyle, storytelling gamified with analytics.

(I realize that is a very generalized gendered point of view, and an imperfect blanket statement.)

But there are so many parallels between the two.

Instagram holds my attention, and sporting events hold my husband’s.

Speaking of sports, are you or your family enjoying March Madness basketball?

My alma mater made it to the Final Four!

I can’t help but feel pride and get excited.

I’m the bandwagon fan who hops on when it’s fun - guilty as charged.

And turns out I’m not the only one.

The Elite 8 games this weekend had the highest viewership since 1993.

An average of 9.4 Million viewers tuned in.

When moments like this captivate the country, it’s a good idea to share how you and your family relate.

Are you a bandwagon fan like me, hoping no one will notice as I dust off my jersey and scream at the screen?

Or do you have a clever bracket set up with your kids to make it a family affair?

Tap into the March Madness with your own take and watch others relate!

Other notable moments on social this week: April Fools Day (Which I talk about in depth on this podcast episode) and the start of MLB baseball season.

So now back to my favorite type of “sport:” creating on social media.

It’s the end of the first quarter…

How are your 2025 intentions and goals going so far?

Have you checked your IG/TikTok analytics?

Are you closer to where you want to be?

Has something caused you to shift strategy?

Hold a mini press conference for yourself and your efforts…. because you deserve it!

Sharing is Caring

This cute trend puts love to test with snacks. The setup is simple, the reactions are gold, and the Internet is entertained.

How it works:

  • 3 people sit down (baby + sibling + parent, or any combo).

  • Plates are covered and one gets a full treat, one gets more than the full treat, and one gets nothing.

  • Uncover and film who instinctively shares (or side-eyes the treat).

Why it's viral:

  • Drama-free suspense (will the toddler hoard the cookies? Find out!)

  • Heartwarming or hilarious (50/50 chance your toddler fails miserably)

  • Easy to replicate (use cookies, fruit, even chicken nuggets)

Examples: Bread, Toddler, Dad, Cookie, Daughter.
