Social Media Marketing Trends week of January 7th

Holy cow week 1 was so much more than we could have imagined! 85 amazing content creators, biz owners, and marketing girlies are in this movement with us - and the content we are putting out into the world collectively… is downright INSPIRING.

I think we are doing something really special here. A true movement to a more honest and empowered social media world..

I wanted to give a special shoutout to @Kasey_t who posted my favorite reel of week 1 in the challenge. Here’s why I like it: the visual where she filmed herself is just the right proportion of ‘subject’ to ‘background.’ It leaves a stunning canvas for her message. The message is simple, but powerful. She chose words that stand out and evoke emotion. Major props, Kasey!

This week we are leaning in to a content pillar that every single one of us on Authentic have found success with:

Parenthood.

Chances are if you are reading this, you’re also a parent, and this role made it into some of your ‘week 1’ content in some way.

Because it’s an incredible experience that changes us, and connects us.

If you are NOT A PARENT, stick with me, you’re going to do great with this.

At Authentic, we believe that becoming a parent is one of the most important and pivotal times in one’s life, but for so long, US society has not glorified parenthood.

Children have been shut out of the workplace, events either exclusively adult or kid, and parenthood a silent burden only women carried. Now, families are demanding more.

Creating content, conversations, and experiences are how we create authentic community for parents, making the transition to parenthood in the US easier and the world a better place. This week, that means you’re a part of this mission, too.

>>> If you are here and you are not a parent, I welcome you to think about the relationship that you intimately pour your love and time into, even when it’s not easy to do so… maybe it’s another human relationship like being a daughter, a partner, or sibling. It could also be your relationship to your pet! These relationships are just as important as parenthood and the world NEEDS to hear your narrative.

As a reminder, here are the Official Rules of 30 Days Authentic:

✔️ Post 5 days a week (Because 7 days a week, multiple times a day, just ain’t it.)

✔️ Make Space for Creativity - you choose how much time you want to spend making content, whether thats 10 minutes or 2 hours a day. Choose your level and block it in your calendar. We recommend adding at least 10 minutes before your content creation block to do something like go for a walk or listen to music to get into a creative state.

✔️ Support others in the challenge! Use #showupauthentic on your posts so we can find each other and engage. No one likes to perform for an empty theatre, so let’s clap loudly and spread encouragement.

Leaving this right here…

Say it out loud. Say it in the mirror. And then post it online. 😮 SERIOUSLY.

Day 1 - Share a Joy

Prompt: We’ll start off with an easy one. What do you love about Parenthood? Think about the micro moments, as opposed to the macro. What is something small in the day to day, or funny, that you haven’t heard someone say out loud before. Show your audience that you ‘get it!’

…Feeling Advanced: What’s something you love about parenthood, but others can’t stand? Say what you are going to say, and be ready to defend it!

Visual Ideas: Go back into your videos on your phone and look for a happy moment you’ve already recorded with your family. You need about :04 seconds. Maybe it’s footage of your kids on a swing set in a park, or shoveling the snow out front.

Examples: cinthyan example, ChiChi Example
