TikTok & Instagram Trends: April

This week’s mantra…

“The opposite of exhaustion is not rest, it’s wholeheartedness.”

- Brene Brown

Were you feeling anxious this week?

I get it.

There’s a lot of uncertainty in the air, with the tariffs, impending economic downturn, and changing of the seasons.

Not to mention, the just standard mental load of Mom life.

As I watched the Master’s tournament go to sudden death this Sunday, spending time with my closest friends.

I have been reflecting.

What is the key to weathering the storm during tough times?

How should you show up when you have no idea what the future holds?

When the stakes are high, and everyone is watching, how do you win?

And I keep coming back to this truth:

What leads to success on any goal is consistency and sustained effort over time.

Are you in control of your time?

Are you using your social media for good? or for numbing?

Are you showing up in a burst, then sputtering out with nothing left to give?

In this noisy world of constant distraction, when times are tough, don’t give up…

just come back to your intention and remember you are in control.

You get to choose where you put your effort and time.

Fill your cup first, rest and relax, then show up wholeheartedly with YOUR intention.

Because if you let it, the algorithms will steal your time and attention.

(That’s what they are quite literally built to do.)

As creators, I think sometimes we have to put the bilnders on to consumption in order to really create at the level we need to.

Which is why we bring you these prompts so that you don’t waste time scrolling for inspiration and get lost in the noise.

On to the content prompts and trends for the week!

Things I Will Not Be Buying During The 2025 Recession

Everyone on social media has been talking about money this week, but in two very different ways.

On the one hand, there's the recession prep crew. A New York woman's TikTok about stocking up on canned goods and cutting back on subscriptions went mega-viral (@itzettromero). Why? Because when economists start whispering "recession," millennials start taking action. It's not panic, it's practicality.

On the flip side, some creatives are all about the #NoBuyChallenge. "I won't buy these 8 things in 2025" videos are everywhere, from water bottles to skin care hoards. The message? Stop buying stuff you don't need.

Here's what's interesting:

Same coin, different sides: One group prepares for hard times, the other rejects consumerism Same goal: More control over money and life Same opportunity for brands: Help people feel secure without spending more For companies:

  • Budget-friendly = good

  • Durable = better

  • Actually useful = best

P.S. If your product helps people save money or avoid unnecessary/extra purchases, now's your time to shine.

Examples: 2025 No buy list, Millenial, Not buying, Advice, No buy, Not be buying.
