Social Media Marketing Trends week of May 26th

I review hundreds of pieces of content in a given month, I analyze performance, and use my own personal account for testing to be able to better inform how I lead my client’s social media. Through the years of doing this, I can tell you here are some nitty, gritty, tried and true tactical tips for posting on Instagram:

1) If your stories are getting low views - let them run out completely, then post ONE story that uses a Yes / No poll sticker. It should be an easy, lightweight question that people can choose an answer on almost instantly. For example, “It’s summer, is a Margarita your go-to cocktail? YES or NO” Let that story slide sit on its own for 24 hours and your story views will be back in a healthy place.

2) If you make a mistake on a reel that requires you to delete > move to drafts > edit & repost, your reach is going to be impacted negatively. If you can, I’d recommend posting something else and waiting a day and starting the whole reel over. It’s a total bummer but I’ve been in this position many, many times and you can learn from my pain.

3) You can change the background color on stories when you are reposting content to stories. It’s my pet peeve when branded accounts don’t do this - it’s a simple measure to keep your stories looking good and takes 2 seconds. In order to do this, always keep a folder in “your photos” of a few brand elements so that you can use the eyedropper tool to get your exact brand colors. Here’s a video I made a long long time ago that gives you the ‘how.’

4) Optimize your post - your content has the chance to garner its best reach if you take the extra minute to: add hashtags, add a geolocation, tag users in the content, tag relevant brands or businesses in the content, and ‘add topics.’ If you are serious about using your platform to make money, or be a professional content creator, these details set you apart as a professional versus amateur. If you are in a hurry, I can tell you that the most massive impact is going to come from the user tags. Those folks are most likely to share anything they have been tagged in to their stories, creating immediate improvement in reach.

5) I always recommend sharing your reels/post to stories. Why? Because there is a large group of users who only spend their time viewing stories. If you don’t get your feed content into their stories feed, then you are missing out on your most engaged eyeballs. The best way to do this is to do a ‘lead in’ story that intros the content in an enticing way, then do your repost. Always add a little extra text on top to keep your stories feeling like a special insider’s look.

I hope this list was helpful.

Reply back and let me know if so? Or if you have any questions? If you already knew all this and you want more, that’s totally fine too.. I can keep it coming!

I’m here to help you myth-bust the bullshit and will always keep it 💯 with what I know factually from testing across hundreds of content pieces over years, with different niches, products and services.

Now onto this week’s social prompts & trends…

That Mom’s Stories

Are you showing up on stories and being public about the life you created? Because if you are, you just might be THAT Mom.

THAT Mom who is inspiring others, shining in her joy, vulnerable in her truth, and influencing the world around her.

She’s a Mom and much more, dynamic, different.

Can you claim it?

Can you face the critic in your head saying “that’s annoying” or “I don’t like how I look?”

Be THAT Mom in all her glory, creating her dream life.

Examples: Allie leaned in to it and gained over 10k followers in the last 6 months, Megan has been it y’all know!, the comments are awesome here
