Social Media Marketing Trends week of May 20th
Last week Megan and I were living the Viva Las Vegas life representing a client at a trade show.
While we were there, we discussed social with brands of all sizes…
there was a cute tooth-fairy product just getting started,
Mom and Pops who have been around 25 years,
and flashy global brands who can drop $250k on a one-week event.
Everyone said the same thing about social media:
“it’s tough.”
And I agree with them.
Social media isn’t a button you push for automatic business success, or sales.
Things don’t just ‘take off like wildfire’
Most people talk about the struggle of it, instead of the fun of it.
I think it’s really important as creators that we never lose sight of what these platforms are supposed to be - a social tool, not your entire world.
More and more I am meeting business owners who understand that social media is about the long term, customer service-like relationships - not the pop off viral reels.
So as you are creating this week, think about what is going to drive the DMs - what is going to make people want to follow up with a question directly to you.
If you can generate DMs from a reel… that is winning.
And remember that tough things are made easier with the support of people who get it.
Like a team from a connecticut social media agency that specializes in understanding the real challenges.
Have fun with it, friends.
Marrison Muttlicker
Since we last spoke a man whose name rhymes with Marrison Muttlicker ticked off the women of the internet. NFL Marketing Execs are pooping themselves, because Taylor had just won over the female demo! TBH - I married a Catholic man and I feel deeply that my role as a Mother and wife is very important to me, in fact, it IS the most important thing to me. But this speech is absolutely riddled with issues for me and many modern families. We’re moving forward, not backward, bud.
Examples: I joke on TikTok, it’s now a summer remix, make Memes, this audio, some standout by backing him
