Social Media Marketing Trends week of August 18th

This Week’s Mindset:

What you do today determines where you are six months from now.

Will you be bold?

Will you take that leap?

Will you invest in yourself and your vision for the future?

I am convinced that these decisions are some of the hardest, yet most important.

And what I think people get wrong (myself included) is that the decisions that need to be made are always massive, complex decisions.

Hence, ‘hard.’

But I think in life it’s actually a series of small decisions that just feel hard.

In actuality, the small steps toward overcoming fear are just what you need.

The decision be ‘bold’ just is pushing past your own negative thoughts.

The ‘leap’ being a call to a friend or have a conversation you’ve been avoiding.

The ‘investing in yourself’ just choosing to work out, even when you don’t feel like it.

Small steps, over time, pushing past the pin-prick of pain for that vision for the future where you look back and are lightyears ahead in growth, are very meaningful.

For example, a good friend of mine had called me twice over the past month and left me voicemails. I read the voicemail summary but never felt like I had the right time or frame of mind to call her back. In the voicemail summary she mentioned ‘health issues.’ I was scared and felt guilty I hadn’t talked to her in so long.

I realized that I was putting off something really small, a simple phone call, because I was making it bigger in my head that it actually was.

When I called her this weekend, the health issue was minor and we had a wonderful call for an hour that left me feeling happy and connected to a great friend.

I couldn’t believe I had waited weeks avoiding this call.

This same exact scenario happens to us in social media marketing.

We make every reel, every post, bigger in our heads.

When if we just trust ourselves a bit more, push through the negative thoughts, and show up — there are only two things that can happen on the otherside: a learning or a reward.

(And both of those are good things.)

Moral of the story: be creative, trust that the knowledge and skill you have within you is good enough, and just hit post.

WTF is So Demure?

Had to include this one!!!

This trend really quickly exploded and is a lesson for all of us original content creators. The creator posted the original Demure video on August 2nd. As she saw there was traction coming, she has now gone on to post more than 80 TikTok videos with her POV on the word demure, and responding to comments. That is 5 TikTok videos a day for the last 2 weeks. Bravo mama Jools Lebron for owning her moment and making it count! I bow to the queen for her efforts. She’s probably got So Demure trademarks cooking!

Celebrities are doing it.

Boss women are doing it.

Influencers are doing it.

Brands are doing it.

Small businesses are doing it.

And who knows if this keeps going maybe the word of 2024 will be ‘Demure!’

You can use the audio here: on Instagram, on TikTok original, or second bigger hit. You can also reference it in captions, make memes, or your own parody video!
