Social Media Marketing Trends week of July 28th

This Week’s Mindset:

You can't add days to your life, but you can add life to your days.

Oohf I read this tonight and it really hit me hard.

I think as Moms we are constantly aware of the notion ‘this won’t last long,’ or ‘they won’t be little forever.’

The notion that life isn’t long is so closely tied to the age of our children.

I think there is both good and bad in that.

The good = focusing on what’s important, prioritizing special moments with them.

The bad = the mom guilt, the pressure of martyrdom, the abandoning of one’s self because of your children’s constant desire to be with you.

But this mantra reminds me, that ultimately, I am in control of my days.

So here’s what I will be doing this week to ‘add life’ to them:

1) One hour of alone time every day: working out, walking, relaxing. I have found I really need this to be my best self!

2) Taking one bold step every day to get closer to my career goals - whether that’s making content only I can make, having hard conversations, putting in the work to accomplish a project, or going out on a limb to connect with someone I admire.

3) Giving myself permission to have fun. We’ll be taking a team retreat this week and honestly, it couldn’t be coming at a worse time. So much is going on in the business and life, but I know that this scheduled fun time with my team is something we all need and deserve.

Oh, and don’t you think social media gives us the chance to add a little ‘life’ to our days through creativity, connection with others, and storytelling!? 💜

Here are your content prompts for thoughtful and on-trend content this week:

‘What to Say When’ Tip Series

Over the past 6 months of writing these prompts for you guys, I am not sure I have ever once said ‘make educational content.’

And the reason is that engagement with educational content really died down in the last year, and social media users reported wanting entertainment.

However, I still think there is room for educational content, done right. You’ve got to make sure it’s sharp and unique. Not something we have all heard before.

Christie Ferrari is a perfect example. She has made an educational series around ‘comebacks to use when…’ And it is awesome!

Here’s why it works:

  • Comebacks are inherently controversial. Women are expected to be polite, keep quiet, and having a ‘comeback’ is both playful and shows a fight.

  • Having a strong comeback is something people really want, and often have no idea how to do. This is the key - what she is offering is very useable and desirable.

  • She opens the door for conversation around ‘arguments’ and points of view. Her topic feeds right into others wanting to share their experiences and opinions.

  • She looks stunning in her videos. Her B-Roll intrigues with her outfits, and feel natural like she’s just in her daily habitat. Let’s take this note from Christie and film the B-Roll when you are in cool places or have a great hair day. You never know what it might come in handy for!

Now here’s your prompt: What uncomfortable or tricky situations are you good at getting out of? How do you do it? What language is in your go-to arsenal that could be helpful for someone else? Write these down and create a ‘Tip Series’ for others that you can put over B-roll of yourself looking fabulous.
